Prenatal and Spirit Baby (adult and baby yoga)  offerings provide an open door for Karma’s community to engage every family member in the art of living yoga, on spiritual, physical and emotional planes. Through community, breath work and meditation, Karma’s family yoga empowers every participant with calm, radiance, joy and good health – and the tools to meet life’s stresses head-on.

Benefits of Yoga at every state of life:

  • For expectant moms Prenatal Yoga: Increased endurance, muscle tone and strength (very important in labor and birth); less stress and more balanced hormones, which reduces symptoms like morning sickness and allows better nutritional absorption for mother and baby; improved nervous system to calm the mind and increase focus, endurance and pain management; and a deeper, more meaningful spiritual connection between mother and child during pregnancy, labor and parenting.  CAN’T MAKE OUR SCHEDULE OF PRENATAL CLASSES?  Pregnant mammas may also attend regular Karma Yoga classes.  Let your instructor know you are expecting and they will guide you accordingly!
  • For caregiver and newborn (6weeks-active walkers) Spirit Baby Yoga: A deeper parent-child bond; creation of a safe space for the exploration of yoga’s mind-body-spirit connections; baby’s movement guided by caregivers stimulates muscle and nerve development and increases immune system function; for parents and babies alike, stimulating pressure receptors on the skin slows down production of stress hormones such as cortisol.

“The idea of conscious conception is profound,” says Katherine Austin. “A mother can prepare to receive a soul, and our ancient traditions guide mothers along this path. We clear out the past, eliminate emotional blockages and prepare a healthier body and mind for conception and gestation.”

Research shows that if a mom is calm and relaxed throughout her pregnancy, she won’t bring fear into the birth process. That state of calm is passed on to her child. Yoga prepares a mother for a supreme state of awareness so that her baby is born in the most positive of circumstances.

The sacred journey of life contains so many inherent possibilities for connection and elevation. Yoga is a way of life, a way of instilling balance and flow into every life stage, and return consciousness, awareness and calm to people of every age and stage.
