The Karma Yoga Kula continues to reach out and help those in need in our
immediate area and beyond, and we offer our sincerest thanks to each of
you in making this possible.
DID YOU KNOW. . .that each of your class visits help support Urban Farming in Detroit? Karma Yoga proudly supports the efforts of Urban Farming to eradicate hunger by their planting of community gardens
throughout Detroit.
Our teachers and desk staff donate a percentage
of their class or pay rate, as does Karma Yoga with a percentage of mat
sales and special events, such as Yoga
Groove. Each month calculations are made and a check is sent to Urban
Farming.
Learn more about Urban Farming and our "Pennies Per
Product" involvement by visiting their web site at www.urbanfarming.org/. THANK YOU for helping us help others on a continued basis in our extended community!
Students
and staff at Karma Yoga helped support Karma Krew's December 2009 project.
The most recent project was to assist 3 families in need for the
holiday season by purchasing house hold items, clothing, toys and
personal hygiene products. Three very large boxes quickly overflowed
with generous offerings and 2 more families were "adopted". The need
is greater than ever in our area, and again, this couldn't have been
done without the love, support, and caring that each and every donation
you made to the box offered.

Katherine Austin, founder and owner of Karma Yoga, annually honors her staff for
the holiday season with a financial gift to the Seva Foundation. Funds were directed to:
their Gift of Sight, Greatest Need/Heart of Compassion, Native American Community
Garden(s) and Native American Diabetes Wellness Training programs.

KY is planning on making this an annual event; we gathered together for the following:
Tuesday, December 20, 2011 from 2-4 pm at Karma Yoga
Come help us tie together FLEECE BLANKETS for PBJ (Peanut Butter and Jelly) Outreach Inc. A diverse group of people volunteering their time and services to provide food, clothing, and basic social services to homeless people as well as those who are below the poverty level, living in the depressed and impoverished areas of the Metropolitan Detroit area, including the Cass Corridor section of inner city Detroit. www.pbjoutreach.org
To make one blanket you will need 2 pieces of Fleece measuring 2 yards each. Joanne Fabrics carries hundreds of patterns and there are always coupons available in the store and on line. Bring enough to make one or more and a pair of fabric sheers. The pattern of the fleece should work for both men and women. There are more men than women that participate in the program. The blankets are fun and easy to make while chatting with friends. Wear comfy clothes as we will be working on the floor. Blankets are available to sit on or feel free to bring a mat.
Thank you in advance for participating. Deacon Tim and his colleagues are ecstatic that we are helping the less fortunate in our city of Detroit. If you are unable to attend but would like to donate fleece, please bring it to Karma Yoga before the 31st and we will make the blanket for you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making all of these wonderful and kind gifts possible for others!
In this coming New Year we offer each of you peace in your hearts.
