Off the Mat
Lots of yoga teachers talk about taking your yoga off the mat. But a lot of students don’t always know what that means.
Our yoga can support us in dealing with the stressors of everyday life. Yoga can lead us to better health, better relationships, better creativity, better productivity at work. We can learn to manage stress through yoga, we can maintain good health – just about anything is attainable when you practice yoga in the way it was intended to be practice.
At Karma Yoga, we teach our students that yoga is called a practice because what we’re doing is practicing for real life, within these technologies. The yoga poses are excellent vehicles to learn to about our selves and also how to deal with life’s ups and downs. Each pose is like getting a software upgrade. We experience how to let go of the old paradigm or way of doing or forcing things and learn to flow more into a balanced and intuitive way of handling life. The difficult poses strengthen not only our body but more importantly our mind. And a strong mind can do anything!
In many ways, we help our students “take their yoga off the mat” – that is, learn to return to their Power, Magnificence, Light, Beauty and Grace!
