Bringing Consciousness into Our Lives

April 18, 2013
Everyday I feel so blessed that I get to share my passion, yoga.  Yoga means to yoke or join together.  The process of all the different technologies that yoga has to offer takes us to that oneness with our Self.  We are joining our finite earthly self with our higher or infinite Self. For many of us, we are trying to remember we even have a higher Self. The greatest thing about yoga is that everyone can start where they're at.  If we waited to be flexible in our mind or body, it would never happen - HA! Day after day, when we get on our mat, it's an opportunity to practice waking up.  It...

Why Cleanse?

April 10, 2013
BY NATALIE PIET Recently, I was asked about why yogis cleanse and how did I do it last year when I was pregnant? Even now, as a nursing mama-isn't it incredibly depleting to do a cleanse? Such great questions! Ayurveda offers a gentle yet effective approach to cleansing. Ultimately, it is an invitation from nature, not just to yogis, but for all of us at every stage of life. By tuning into the season, we let nature lead, renewing our taste buds, aligning our sleep patterns and yielding to a sweeter flow in daily life. Health is the sum total of the choices we make each and every day. When we...

Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day

April 9, 2013
This blog grew out of Lynn Medow's class on Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, which was Monday, April 8th. Today is Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. Yesterday I attended the world premiere of I Believe - a Shoah Requiem, composed by Cantor Daniel Gross. It was a community-wide Detroit interfaith observance with 6 adult choirs and 2 children's choirs, representative speakers from the legislature, the Archdiocese of Detroit, Hartford Memorial Baptist Church, Russell Street Missionary Baptist Church, Greater New Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, St. John Armenian Church, and rabbis...

Understand Your Power

April 4, 2013
It is said that if we knew how powerful our thoughts were, we wouldn't have any negative thoughts!  We are energy, bottom line. Yoga teaches us how to clear out the stress from our body, nervous system and mind, among other layers. When we carry less stress, we can focus on releasing old emotions and memories with the power equal to that of an atomic bomb!   What gets revealed then is the beauty and results of our creativity, power and light. With asana, the practice of physical postures on the mat, we start on the most gross layer and start to clean house. Depending on our past lives, our...

Flying With Faith, Not Fear

April 2, 2013
"I don't live in fear. All good experiences have come from trusting the universe. There is no other way to live or love."  Olivia Wilde My faith and trust in the universe continues to deepen; especially during uncertain times. This inspiring quote from one of my favorite celebs, the lovely Olivia Wilde, arrived right on time. Five minutes later would have been too late… Chock another one up for Olivia. I loved her sassy, self-assured, yet deeply sensitive character on the emmy award winning show, "House." I recall, on a number of occasions thinking, " I could totally see myself being...

Let Go or Be Dragged

April 1, 2013
This quote appeared to me today.  Not a surprise.  It's been an interesting time since I returned from India last week.  I've had numerous people contacting me regarding things that have finally come up for them and that need to be released. We've been told for the past several years that with the coming of the New Age, old patterns not in alignment with our Truth would not hold up anymore.  Secrets, things we've done in the past that we regret, and our true feelings are ready to be let out.  For better (not worse) we are being forced forward with our evolution.  Yeah! We just...

My India Journey 2013 - by Katherine Austin

March 13, 2013
Katherine wrote this on Saturday, March 9th... It's Saturday 3/9, the sun is setting and I'm on a train now to Amritsar, about halfway through my trip. Looking back over this past week, I am so filled with gratitude for being able to experience all that was presented. India has and continues to be for me a beloved affair.  She challenges you, inspires you, and loves you more than one can imagine.  To be amongst such a different culture, different way of life, when I am in India, the experience asks me to let go and let God more than ever.  I grow more here than any other time or place. Travel...
